I found this to be a great book about air travel for children with intellectual disabilities. I wanted to learn more about this issue a few weeks ago when I saw a news story about a child who had been subjected to a TSA search. The child had a disability and had been upset by what appeared to be a very long and unnecessary pat down procedure. That led me to do more research on this topic, and I found a wealth of information in this book. I wish that employees in the airline industry would read this book--in particular, TSA employees.What is really wonderful about this book is that it is organized in such a way that it shows parents and guardians of children with intellectual disabilities exactly how to prepare for the process of air travel. It starts with the planning process before arriving at the airport, then breaks the information up into how to prepare for being at the airport and on the plane, and then the process of embarking and disembarking the plane.
The author has personal experience with this topic, and his expertise shows in the pages of this book. This is a book that delves deep into the subject matter, while also offering a huge amount of practical information that can make the process of air travel much easier for parents of children with intellectual disabilities.

Travelling with children in general can be a tough challenge in itself for any parent or guardian; however, travelling with a child with disabilities can be a daunting task for especially the child as this can cause an overload on the senses with a range of sound, smells and lights . While rules are in place for all passengers, the right to fly is a privilege that cannot be denied even to a child with intellectual disabilities. The "Air travel guide for children with intellectual disability" is an AWESOME READ!! This book is very well-written and when it comes to issues such as this, there isn't enough information available compared to this book. It helps you to organize and plan effectively for an enjoyable experience for any child with such disability and and parent/guardian. Speaking from experience with a child of my own with such disability, I would definitely recommend this book as it covers ALL aspects from pre-planning to the arrival of destination!
