“It was either promote you or fire you,” Jeff’s boss explained. His hands twitched on the desk as if longing, aching for violence. Jeff sat across from him, straight in his chair, glad for the physical space between them. This was not your normal boss/employee relationship.

Jeff Jordan is a part-time supervisor for Unified Shipping, balancing one simple, relentless equation—-productivity. But his numbers are hopeless. His best employee is trying to sleep with the most vocal feminist on the team. His boss considers it good sport to threaten him daily in at least two different languages. His fiancée seems to be rethinking the marriage thing.

Then fate strikes. A horrific accident scatters debris hundreds of yards across a rain-slicked highway and Jeff is promoted to handle the fallout. He seizes the chance like the only rope out of hell. But there’s a catch to this wonderful promotion. A catch that has the potential to destroy the rest of his life, leaving him with one inevitable decision.

Aries at Dawn a mystery thriller eBook William Amerman

Aries at Dawn is a thriller about one man's life as it falls apart. Although
it's not my usual genre, I enjoyed it very much. Amerman is a gifted writer,
something that goes a long way for me. This book is clearly well-edited and
polished, which made reading it a joy. Amerman has a unique writing style that
has great rhythm once you get into the flow of his prose.

The story itself is well-crafted, and while reading, you know you are in the
hands of a talented writer who knows the art of writing, pacing, plotting, and
everything else you'd want in a book. Without giving too much of the story away,
I will say that it keeps you moving and wanting to know what comes next. At one
chase scene, my heart literally started beating faster!

The only part of the book that lost me a little was the technical stuff about
unions and details about the shipping industry, but that's my shortcoming and
not the author's. Overall, this is an exciting and very well written book that I
would recommend to anyone who likes a fast-paced read.

Aries at Dawn a mystery thriller eBook William Amerman Reviews

a good travel companion. Looks like the author of this book had an interesting experience in life if this is a true story!
Wow, I was pulled in from the first page and couldn't put it down until I finished it. Great characters and great pacing. Looking for more from this author but this is the only one I see.
Pros
1) Quick read (except for one chapter where I ended up skimming some of the time) that kept me wondering what was going to happen next
2) Great sense of atmosphere. There was not a whole lot of time spent describing the surroundings, but the few descriptions totally immersed me in the environment
3) GREAT characters. I'll remember Juan's confusion about that "computer thing" for a long time.
4) The ending. The last few chapters built up suspense and excitement so much I couldn't stop reading

Cons
1) Maybe I'm being too harsh, but this was more of an entertaining read to me rather than literature. I don't think it pushed any literary boundaries!
2) That slow chapter. I don't want to give away any secrets so I won't describe it. It was short, but I think the book would be better without it
3) Minor issue. I bought this book for $2.99 but it's since dropped to 99 cents. It felt worth the $2.99 so no real complaints, but I would have loved to get it for less than a buck!

Overall
Liked it alot. Bought it for a vacation trip to LA and ended up staying up until 3am my last night there to finish it
I highly recommend this book to mystery readers especially those familiar with Texas and Texans. All of the characters are interesting especially Jeff who has an engaging personality. My favorite line in the book occurs in the midst of murder, attempted murder and general backstabbing...."so tired of rude people." The story is fast moving and the reader will never be bored.
I was hooked from the first page. The action was fast paced and interesting. The author developed the characters very well and I was able to relate to them. Loved the setting in Austin, Texas. I could picture where the characters were and what it looked like! BTW - I love El Arroyo!! I highly recommend this book!
The plot was suspenseful, with twists and turns until the very end. The writing is short and choppy like the short, fast scenes in the Bourne Identity, which gave a flavor of the confusion Jeff, the main character, was feeling. I didn't really like Jeff all that much, but I felt that he was a very real character. The descriptions of the shipping facility make me glad to never have set foot in one. All in all a good thriller.
