I've enjoyed reading every one of Jenny Worstall's other books so when I noticed she'd released a new book I put it on my reading list straightaway. Although I was rather surprised to see she's turned to crime! The novella is an enjoyable, light and humorous read in which the "cheesy clues" certainly contribute to the fun. The plot twists and turns to a neatly tied up conclusion. The action is pacey and the storyline unfolds rapidly with clues appearing in the most unexpected places. The author has demonstrated in her other books that she's good at giving the reader little pen-portraits of her characters. She's done this really well once again and created the feeling that the reader is part of the small community of Burcliffe where most of the action takes place. Definitely put the kettle on and settle down for a couple of hours with a very entertaining cosy novella.
